Our Farmyard Animal Cake Class is all about those animals that children (and adults!) adore: Pigs, Cows, Sheep, Frogs, Ducks, Chicks, Geese and Horses. This is where we bring a little bit of witty to the pretty!

What you will learn

In this class, we will show you all the tricks of the trade for making the animals and detailing for a farmyard animal cake.  This is fondant modelling class so the bulk of the day will be spent modelling the animals and the tiny details that surround them on the cake.  During the class, you will learn:

• How to make the main animals to top a cake (for example, cow, pig, horse, frog, goose and/or ducks).
• How to make smaller animals such as baby chicks.
• How to give your animals individual character such as a cheeky smile or a cute wink.
• Techniques for ensuring you create animals which have your own unique style incorporated.
• How to make edible balloons that stand up on a cake.
• How to create a little edible pond with edible pond stones.
• How to create space fillers such as flowers or little presents.
• How to pipe grass with a grass nozzle and the best way to apply it on this style of cake.
• How to make a farmyard fence.
• How to position animals on a cake to ensure that they are aesthetically pleasing.

As we focus on modelling characters and detailing in this class, this is not a baking class.

For the cake, we advise that you work on a dummy cake so you can keep your creation forever – perhaps as a reference point for any future cakes you will make.

We supply everything you need so you do not need to bring anything with you. As with all our classes, we supply everything you need.

After this class, not only will you have the skills to make a single tier cake in this style but you will be able to develop it to make stunning animal cupcake towers like the one pictured above.

We supply lots of tea and coffee throughout the day and you can take breaks whenever you wish. You can ask as many questions as you want throughout the day, ask about tips, secrets and short cuts whilst having a thoroughly fun time.   This class is a bundle of fun and you will find yourself truly amazed with what you are able to create in just one day.

Level

This class is for beginners who have had a little experience or intermediates. If you are a beginner but have attended any other cupcake or cake class with us, you would be fine attending this class.

Class Times and Equipment

This class starts promptly at 10.15am and runs to 5.30pm.

We supply everything you to make the finished cake including the box to take it home in.  The only things you need to bring are a packed lunch and an apron.

Take Home Fact Pack

You will be given a fact sheet describing all the techniques you learnt during the day so you can refresh your mind next time you bake as there is a lot to teach you.  Of course, there are also lots of tips on our Facebook page .
